Sat at home watching the opening ceremony......beats working

So.....what are you looking forward to over the next 2 weeks
Prancing on ice?
Sliding lumps of granite?
Falling down a snowy hill?

I shouldn't mock..... usually quite enjoy it

Well, if the opening ceremony's anything to go by this will be the worst attended winter olympics ever. The only people in the stadium are VIP's.
The only things worth watching are ski jumping, downhill skiiing and bobsleigh.

Really have some work to do, so doing my best not to care that much.

No real hockey helps.

Ice skating, but only cos I want to see them falling over, Joanne Conway was da bom back in the day, she must have been the only 80% extremely Caucasian woman with a black arse.

Anyone with a NHL contract (the best players and young players in the world) are not allowed to play.

Just watched tonights offering and it's like watching a CBeebies edition of the winter olympics. It's insulting to anyone over the age of 16.

Love the WInter Olympics. Curling apart, pretty much all the events have the extra frisson of the risk of getting badly hurt.
Ski-cross is insane

Re: Official Winter Olympics thread
As a rule.I think most winter sports are a bit shit.

Skiing has never appealed to me as something I'd like to do but watching the men's downhill is always good for half hours entertainment.

Those nutters are always pushing it to the limit.

The ski slaloms are a bit shit what with with all the crashing into the poles / gates, they should make them out of metal so it really fucking hurts, then they wouldn't cheat so much.

Ski jump is always good for a bit but that gets to be a bit of a snoozefest after a while if no one stacks it

All those modern snowboarding trick runs are just a load of show off bollocks, very good if you can do it I suppose.

Ice dancing normally has some decent crumpet to gawp at but not too sure about the blokes who do it, wearing sparkly shit, they all look camp as hell.

The one thing that I've always fancied doing just ONCE and would love to bring my crash helmet out of retirement for is the skeleton bob. I would genuinely love to have a go at this. Must make motorbikes feel boring in comparison. Proper fucking buzz that must be.

lower

It's even shitter than the summer Olympics.

The winter version is just 101 different ways to slide.

Re: Official Winter Olympics thread
My view is that man started with running & sliding (Olympics summer & winter) then progressed to running into each other (rugby) before the Neanderthals died out.
Then came Football & cricket when mans brain developed

Negatives

All the events.

Positives

Tight Lycra.

On balance, it’s an excellent few weeks of sport.

None of these events are actually sports. Apart from Ice Hockey, I quite like that.

Boarder cross and ski cross are probably two of the best sports your ever likely to watch......

Good to see the barely evolved Australoboganithicus have reached the pinnacle of their intellect with AFL.

If you don't think you can hurt yourself seriously while curling, you never had to play it in Phys. Ed during high school.

You are whipping about almost 20kg rocks, remember.
